Miss Stompede
20 year old Leigha Rode was crowned Miss Grande Prairie Stompede at the 32nd annual event. Born and raised on a ranch in Sexsmith Alberta, Leigha and her family are actively involved in raising bucking bulls and beef cattle. “Upon reaching my goal of becoming Miss Grande Prairie Stompede, I have met alot of amazing people and travelled to unforgettable places. I feel I have positively influenced and made an impact on promoting the sport of rodeo in those places to those people. ”
Leigha is an active barrel racer and enjoys roping as well. She volunteers her time with local Highschool rodeos and youth events. She also enjoys training horses, ranching and snowboarding.
Currently Leigha is reaching another one of her many goals and is attending the Academy of professional Hair design in Red Deer. “Although I have already received my certificate as a Teachers Assistant specializing in early childhood development. The thought of becoming a hair stylist has always been in the back of my mind, and when the opportunity came up I jumped at it! With my busy schedule the thought of failure never crossed my mind because I have always believed that if you want something you should go for it. You never know what you are capable of until you give it a try, sometimes you don’t succeed but it’s the lessons you learn along the way that shape the person you grow to be. “
“I look forward to the competition this year and I am excited to see who the newly crowned Miss G.P Stompede will be. As the 2009 Stompede Queen I have the opportunity to travel to some of the events with the 2010 winner. Giving her the chance to learn the ropes and not feel overwhelmed. Also I will still attend many functions on my own this year, helping me to prepared for the Miss Rodeo Canada competition in November.”

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY:
- Must be 18 yrs by May 24,2010 and no older than 24 yrs of age as of Jan. 1, 2010
- Must have a current and valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
- Must be a competent rider and have access to a horse during your reign
