MISS STOMPEDE 2009 SAYS THANKS
By LEIGHA RODE
Miss GP Stompede 2009
I am very grateful for the last year I have had representing Grande Prairie and the Peace Country – traveling all around Alberta and across British Columbia.
Along my journey as Miss Grande Prairie Stompede I have been molded into the person I believe God has chosen for me to be to be. I have learned the greatest gifts you can give to yourself and those who surround you are to be true to yourself- live strong for what you believe in, hold your values close to your heart and, the most important, to share more love then has been given to you.
Over this past year I have changed career paths to a hairstylist and I find myself living by these gifts in my every day work. I have been blessed over the duration of my reign to have many sponsors behind me – this is defiantly the biggest reason I have had the opportunity to go to so many places and meet so many fantastic people who have stuck out in my mind and touched my life. For that reason I thank each and every one of my sponsors for the opportunities they have given to me.
Another huge reason why I am where I am today is the amazing Stompede queen coordinators I have behind me – Chyanne Freemantle and Nicole Cooke I thank you so much for everything you have done for myself and the queen program. You guys put in countless hours and make sure I was always organized and well taken care of . . . thank you!
Also, thank you to the Stompede association, and any family and friends who have supported me in my journey. Of course I cannot forget my amazing parents, Joe and Gina Rode. To you I thank you for supporting me in anything I choose to do and thank you for your endless love and support.
My journey is far from over; I will be running for Miss Rodeo Canada, always representing Grande Prairie in my travels.
Something I live by is: “You never know what you are capable of until you give it a try.”
